VCE VOCATIONAL MAJOR

The VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) is a vocational and applied learning program within the VCE designed for year 11 and 12 students who wish to pursue apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE studies or employment. It replaces VCAL from 2023. NCAT is renowned for its highly successful specialist and general applied learning programs which provide real pathways for young people.

NCAT runs specialist VCE VM programs for students who have a clear focus and definite passion. In these programs core subjects such as Literacy Numeracy, Personal Development Skills and Work Related Skills are tailored to suit the employment needs of the student’s VET and career specialisation. These include the
 Art Immersion VCE VM for students who want to pursue a career in the visual arts;
 Performance VCE VM for students who want to pursue a career in music, dance, sound production or theatre;
 Pre-apprenticeship VCE VM in automotive, building and construction, electrotechnology, engineering or plumbing for students wanting an apprenticeship.

The college also runs a General VCE VM. Practical skills are applied in real life settings, community activities, Structured Work Placements or schools-based apprenticeships within a chosen vocational field.

– Peter Myers (Music Head of Department)

“There’s no other school that’s got this equipment, there’s no other school that’s got this freedom. It’s such a great place.”
